I have said it before, and I will say it again, I LOVE a good themed dance class! That is why in the winter, those cold months, I like to use Winter Animal Songs for Dance Class! When creating the playlist I have listed below I had preschool, creative movement, and pre ballet in mind! But really these songs could be used for a lot of different things!
Below you will find my Winter Animal Songs for Dance Class playlist and some suggestions on movements to use for the song!
Stretching with the Sleepy Polar Bears – Andrew Holdsworth
For this song I like to pretend that we are sleeping polar bears and we move and stretch different body parts to help us wake up!
Polar Bear – Pinkfong
This song is fun and energetic! I use this song to work on stomping to the beat as a polar bear. The polar bears even work on balance and hopping on one foot.
The Ice (Polar Animals) – Lingokids
This song is great to have the students pretend to be the animals and create the movement from the song. It is amazing the creativity you can see from them!
Bear Breath – Kira Willey
This song is less movement focused and more breathe and relaxation. Depending on your class I find this song is great to center them on the beginning of class or use it as a calming song for the end of class.
Below are three more fun songs to use!
Penguin With a Funky Shoe – Parry Gripp
Narwhals Are Awesome – JellyBug
Five Little Penguins – Patty Shukla
Check out my Arctic Animals Worksheets to go along perfectly with this playlist! It includes four creative movement cards as well!
